This is one of the best Turkish textbooks… as rated by learners.
You get 17 chapters – all of which contain beginner dialogues, vocabulary lists, grammar rules, exercises, examples, and simple explanations. Everything you can expect from a language learning textbook.
It’s useful for both – beginners and experienced learners who need to refer back to grammar rules.
- Strength: Good comprehensive textbook.
2. Turkish for Beginners: A Comprehensive Self-Study Course
This is a good candidate if you’re looking for a textbook that’s affordable.
Across 10 chapters, you get dialogues, grammar explanations, cultural points, vocabulary lists and also exercises. Plus, you can get the free audio on the publisher’s website.
One thing worth mentioning is that it was published in December of 2018… in case you want something up-to-date.

3. Complete Turkish Beginner to Intermediate Course
This is another good textbook that promises to take you to the Intermediate level.
Definitely a strong contender on my list of best Portuguese textbooks.

I do like the promise of getting you to the B1/B2 (Intermediate) level.

If you want to speak Turkish and have a greater range of expression…
…then you’ll need a lot of grammar.

Well, it’s one thing to just “read” things and passively take them in. It’s another thing to practice and do exercises. Reading puts information into your head temporarily. Exercises make the information STICK like gum under the table.
Note: This book is a bit meatier than the one before. You can choose either one. Both offer exercises. And for me, the more practice the better. As a beginner, I’d get one. If I wanted all the practice in the world, I’d consider both.

While it’s not a Turkish “textbook,” it can definitely be a useful supplement to whatever other textbooks you’re using. You learn stories, dialogues, words, boost your range of expression, and understanding… and get it all reinforced simply by reading and rereading.

7. Lonely Planet Turkish Phrasebook & Dictionary
If you’re learning Turkish, then you’ll want phrases.
Phrases get you speaking more right now.
You’ll also want a dictionary… just to load yourself up on more words.

That’s where this phrasebook/dictionary comes in, with over 3500 words inside. Plus, plenty of phrases for real-life situations. The phrasebook-dictionary hybrid is geared towards travelers but beginners can also make good use of it.

8. 2000 Most Common Turkish Words in Context: Get Fluent & Increase Your Turkish Vocabulary with 2000 Turkish Phrases
While I’m more of a fan of learning Turkish phrases over words, there’s no argument that the more words you know, the more you can speak. So, that’s where this Turkish learning book comes in.

It promises to each you 2000 words through example sentences (which is good, so you’re not learning words alone) and it organizes them by frequency of use.
- Strength: Learning more words.
