This is simple. To say “my name is” in Hebrew, you just need the word “Shmi.” Then say your name. For example, if the name is Talia.. it would be like this…

  • I live in Jerusalem.
  • ani gar be’yerushalaim.

  1. sono felice di apprendere la lingua ebraica , finalmente. Ho studiato senza insegnanti sul libretto elef milim. Ma nonj è facile: non è ivrit bekalut. Lehitraot haverim oti.

  2. Good information. Just a correction for Number 1, Nice to meet you with נעים , that is a nun, not a mem, so the word is Na-eem, not Ma-eem. Na-eem me-od is an easier way to say very pleased to meet you.

Also, you may want to mention that the verbs and phrases are a little different feminine vs masculine. Ga-rah vs Gar for live. Dina Garah b’New York/דינה גרה בניו יורק. And for giving your age, Ani bat 27 vs Ani ben 27 is feminine vs masculine. דינה בת 27. (Dina is 27 years old)

  3. I lived in Tel Aviv in Israel for 5 years due to work and so as you can imagine, I had to learn the Hebrew language in a very short space of time. Just offering my advice to anyone else looking to learn this language and that is to follow the Practical ‘Learn Hebrew’ program at:

It worked very well for me as I was completely fluent in the language in well under a year from following it and I didn’t have to pay massive teacher fees like my work originally advised. An absolute life saver for me and I highly recommend it to everyone.
